Honeymoon in Ireland: Dublin Day 2

It might be an understatement to say we had no trouble sleeping our very first night in Ireland!  We were just as happy to wake up to a light-filled room and a table set with croissants, fresh yogurt, fruit, Irish butter, and teacups ready to be filled with frothy drinks from the Nespresso in the kitchen.

After a leisurely breakfast, we packed our borrowed raincoats (our sweet hosts insisted that we take theirs for the day, in case of continued downpours!) and headed off to Phoenix Park, just a couple of blocks away. In addition to being lush and packed with quiet spots to reflect and enjoy the cool, fresh air, Phoenix Park also happens to be the largest urban park in all of Europe!  Who knew?  We spent a good hour wandering on foot, admiring the green grass and catching glimpses of Irish families enjoying the warm day.

We didn't have an exact itinerary, but after leaving the park, found ourselves just a few blocks from the famed Guinness Factory: a must-see!  It was truly a Willy Wonka-like experience, both finding the entrance to the factory, and taking the tour!   Finally, we made it to St. James' Gate...

A long walk, St Patrick's Cathedral, dinner and an evening viewing of Dublin's streets wrapped up our second full day in the fair city...
