It's here.

Yesterday was the FIRST DAY OF FALL. This is exciting stuff. I already have all sorts of grandiose plans for the season, including some family and friend visits, and a few adventures related to perhaps my favorite holiday - Halloween! It's always a race for me to savor the season and squeeze in as many fall-ish activities as possible before the deliciously crisp air and colorful scenery fade away...this morning I started a list, so as not to forget one single drop of fall-flavored adventures.

5 things to do this autumn:

1)
Bikerides, lots and lots of them. We're putting some finishing touches on our bikes (a few minor repairs) and then the refreshing air and views of the leaves in early evening will be all ours.

2) Legend Weekend Nights.
I have been looking forward to this for months. Who could pass up an opportunity to view the Headless Horseman riding through spooky forests?

3)
Apple and pumpkin picking. Need I say more?

4) Decorate! Spanish moss, cinderella pumpkins, skulls, black crows, creepy spiders...oh my!

5) Cider and soccer games. Just a short walk across campus to the game. We bring the cider ourselves. Last night we bought folding chairs for $7 apiece; now we'll be enjoying the games in style!

...and this is just the tip of the iceberg.

Back to School

The breeze blowing in my window is cool tonight. Our heat spell is breaking, and summer's coming to an end. For now, I'm going to continue reveling in the daytime summer-ness; at least until Saturday, when my bubble will surely be broken by the arrival of the other 1300 members of our campus community.

School supplies have been all over the internet, print media and tv lately, and today I was
admiring some vintage globes from around the blogosphere and crafty world...globes can qualify as a school supply, right?

1. Sharilyn of LovelyDesign's vintage globe collection
4. Light-up Fisher Price globe on Etsy! I didn't remember until I came across it, but I'm pretty sure I used to have this one as a child.

Don't you want one?

Spring Cleaning: Part II

Did I show you my purple wall yet?

One especially gloomy weekend I decided I needed a change. It took less than an hour from start to finish (including getting out materials, prepping the area, etc), so now I'm thinking of painting another wall or two...(maybe first I'll buy some new curtains to replace those red ones). The wall still looks like cinder blocks, but at least they're cheerful cinder blocks now...
