{Union Square after a storm, from the Library of Congress photo stream}
Thick, white flakes. Lake effect. Inches and inches, lining curbs and my front steps and delicate tree branches like frosting. Piling up outside overnight and into the late morning. A snow day with a view of birds at the feeder and fluffy tufts of snow on the car that don't need to be brushed off and a big mug of hot cocoa. Winter, you can come any day now.
