Before part two can officially begin, let me add just one thing: I forgot to mention in my last post that day TWO ended with dinner HERE!
Ok, now let day three commence!
DAY THREE: The details: Charlottesville, VA., sweltering heat, Monticello, a lovely new bottle of wine, one stomach ache, a walk through downtown Charlottesville, sighting of the bar (Miller's) where Dave Matthews apparently got his start?, a lengthy search for a quick dinner, and a quiet/early night at the hotel.
DAY FOUR: More Charlottesville, and then we hit the road. Today we visited the University of Virginia campus, and specifically the Rotunda, which, of course, bears quite a resemblance to Monticello.
So much talk of Jefferson in just two days turned out to be very inspiring. He did so much! And knew so much! By the end of these two days I wanted to read more, garden more, build more, drink more wine, study more, paint more, take more classes, and just LEARN more. TJ was amazing.
The Virginia heat was in full effect again today. Good thing I had a Java Chip Frapp to help me through :) (I had about five of them over the duration of this vacation...)
Next? Back in the car, and on to the longest section of our trip, Virginia Beach! We actually got a fairly early start, and despite the agonizing traffic, had plenty of daylight (and RAIN) left to get settled at the campsite.
I can't possibly arrive in an ocean-side locale without at least seeing the ocean for a few brief moments, even if it's late...
Nighty-night.
PS: Be back with more tomorrow!
PPS: Is this the longest post ever, or what?
